The producer price index increased 3.9 percent annually in June, notably slower than May's 4.6 percent growth. In April, producer prices rose 5.1 percent year-on-year. The latest gain was the smallest since September 2010, when prices moved up 3.3 percent.
Output prices of intermediate goods advanced 4.7 percent year-on-year in June, while capital goods prices rose 0.7 percent. There was an 8.8 percent annual growth in energy prices during the month. Month-on-month, producer prices dropped 0.1 percent in June, reversing the 0.2 percent increase seen in May. In the second quarter of 2011, producer prices advanced 4.5 percent from the corresponding period last year.
