Japan's PM-Elect Hopes To Form Cabinet On Friday


(RTTNews) - Japan's incoming Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda has said that he hopes to form a new DPJ-led cabinet by Friday.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, a day after he was elected Japan's 95th Prime Minister, Noda said he will try to choose the right people in his government.
A decision on the appointment of the key Cabinet post of chief cabinet secretary will be taken "as soon as possible."
Earlier, he sought U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner's continued support., when the latter called him to congratulate on being elected Japan's new leader.
Noda, who has been Japan's finance minister until being elevated to the top post, worked closely with his US counterpart for two years to stabilize the global economy since he was named senior vice finance minister.
Noda told reporters that he hopes to hold talks with US President Barack Obama "as soon as possible, including over the phone."
