Mexican Trade Balance Swings To Deficit In July


(RTTNews) - Mexico's merchandise trade balance turned to a deficit in July from a surplus in June, data released by statistical office INEGI showed Wednesday.
The trade balance was a deficit of $1.18 billion in July, compared to a surplus of $107.9 million in June. In July 2010, the trade deficit was $1.03 billion.
Exports rose 19.4 percent annually to $27.85 billion in July. Shipments of petroleum products grew 32.2 percent, while dispatches of non-oil products moved up 17.2 percent year-on-year.
Imports increased 19.2 percent annually to $29.03 billion in July. Arrivals of oil products climbed 46.3 percent during the month, while imports of non-oil products advanced 15.9 percent.
In the January-July period, the exports and imports increased by 21 percent and 19.1 percent respectively from the corresponding period last year.
