Taiwan July Leading Index Rises At Slower Pace


(RTTNews) - Taiwan's leading economic indicator increased at a slower pace in July, data released by the Council for Economic Planning and Development showed Friday.
The seasonally adjusted composite leading index edged up 0.04 percent from the previous month to 128.3 in July, after rising 0.1 percent in June. The annualized six-month rate of increase in the index was 2.1 percent during the month, slower than June's 2.5 percent growth. All the seven sub-indicators of the leading index had negative cyclical movements month-on-month.
The seasonally adjusted composite coincident index, meanwhile, dropped 0.2 percent month-on-month to 133.5 in July, matching the rate of decline recorded in June. The trend-adjusted coincident index decreased 1.2 percent from June.
The lagging indicator grew 2.6 percent on a monthly basis to 149 in July. The rate of growth remained steady for the fourth straight month. On a trend adjusted basis, the lagging index moved up 1.5 percent from the preceding month.
