(RTTNews) - French service sector activity expanded at a solid pace in August, latest data from Markit Economics showed Monday.
The final services activity index rose to 56.8 in August from 54.2 in July. This was slightly above the flash estimate of 56.1 and the highest since May. A reading above 50 suggests expansion of the sector.
The Composite Output Index, that measures activity across both the manufacturing and service sectors, rose to 53.7 in August from 53.2 in July. This was a tad above the flash estimate of 53.6.
The level of new business received by French service providers increased at the strongest rate for three months in August.
Input prices faced by French service providers continued to rise in August, while output prices rose at a slower pace.
