(RTTNews) - Poland's industrial production increased more than economists expected in August, data released by the Central Statistical Office showed Monday.
Industrial production increased 8.1 percent on an annual basis in August, sharply faster than the 2.7 percent growth economists expected. In July, production increased 1.8 percent.
Production in the manufacturing sector climbed 9.3 percent year-on-year, while mining and quarrying production dropped 0.6 percent. There was a 2.3 percent annual decline in the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and hot water in August.
Month-on-month, industrial output advanced 4.3 percent during the month, while economists expected production to decline 1 percent.
At the same time, output in the Polish construction sector grew 1.5 percent month-on-month in August, taking the annual growth to 10.8 percent.
