Financial News in Brief

China – China is allowing more foreign investment into its stock market, but net flows suggest money is coming out of China. Will this reverse the trend?

Car industry – In spite of weaknesses in some markets, the global auto industry continues to notch up sales growth.

Eldorado/European Goldfields – The Canadian-listed gold miner, has agreed to buy European Goldfields for $2.4bn in stock, upending a plan by Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund to take a stake in the London-listed miner.

UK banks – Government to say it will implement Vickers commission recommendations in full, to take effect in 2019. By then, will banks as we know them still exist?
