Japanese Dec. Industrial Output Growth Revised Down

Japanese industrial output grew 3.8 percent month-on-month in December, revised down from 4 percent growth estimated initially, final data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed Tuesday. On a yearly basis, output dipped 4.3 percent.

Meanwhile, monthly growth in shipment was revised up to 4.6 percent from 4.5 percent. Year-on-year, shipments dropped 3 percent

At the same time, the decline in inventory was confirmed at 2.9 percent. Compared to the previous year, inventory was up 3.4 percent. The inventory ratio dropped 3.7 percent on a monthly basis compared to the initial estimate of 3.6 percent drop.

The capacity utilization grew by 3.1 percent on a monthly basis in December, reversing a 2.9 percent drop in November.
