Merkel Arrives In Beijing For Talks With Chinese Leaders

German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Beijing Thursday on a three-day official visit to China, during which she will have talks with President Hu Jintao, Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and top legislator Wu Bangguo.

She will address the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences later on Thursday, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

On Friday, Merkel will fly to Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, where she will attend a forum for Chinese and German businessmen with Premier Wen. She will also visit the Chinese branch of Herrenknecht, a German company producing robotic tunnel-drilling machines.

Merkel had visited China four times in the past.
