Retail sales in Estonia increased 15 percent year-on-year in January, data from Statistics Estonia showed Monday.
This January, sales growth accelerated due to the low reference base in January last year as well as the establishment of new retail trade enterprises, the statistical office said.
During the month, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises were 316.6 million euros. This increase was mostly influenced by the stores selling manufactured goods, where retail sales increased 22 percent compared to January 2011.
According to the seasonally and working-day adjusted data, total retail sales increased 2 percent compared to December 2011.
