The ILO unemployment rate in metropolitan France rose to 9.4 percent in the fourth quarter from 9.3 percent in the prior quarter, the statistical office Insee showed Thursday. The expected rate was 9.6 percent.
The number of unemployed totaled 2.7 million. The employment rate of the population was stable at 63.8 percent in the fourth quarter.
At the same time, the under employment rate held steady at 5.3 percent.
